I’ll ask the age-old question once again. It’s a profound question that legitimately requires long, hard, and deep thought. This question requires serious consideration because the answers to this question could have profound, life-changing effects on both yourself and those around you.
The question: What would I do if I won the lottery?
It’s not hard for me to answer this question. A big house is on the way, quickly followed by very expensive cars. I do plan to take trips, give some cash to family and friends, and do some other things i won’t mention here . . . hehe.
But History has shown us some of the choices past lottery winners have made. For some, it may be surprising what newly wealthy people decide to spend their cash on. And you must admit: just because you don’t think of the idea, is it something you’d have done too? Hmmm?
Let’s take a peek, shall we?
Winning $1.15 million probably doesn’t sound like a lot of money when you compare it to winning, say, a $500 million jackpot. A former lab technician who won $1.15 million may agree with you. As a matter of fact, he’s described himself as “not by nature a big spending person” who prides himself on “living sensibly.”
He still works as a Chauffeur, he didn’t go out and buy a large, expensive home or fancy car – all sensible choices. One purchase he did make was to buy land on the Moon, Venus, and Mars. Is this a sensible purchase? I guess it’s debatable.
Granted, he only paid $139.00 for the land, but the question I have is who has the authority to sell property on these celestial bodies?
A 19-year-old UK man won the $18,000,000 lottery jackpot after purchasing a $1.00 ticket. So what does any self-respecting 19-year-old do when suddenly swimming in a pond full of cash? Why, buy a house by a lake and build his own race track in his backyard, of course. Duh. You have to show off those new luxury cars somehow.
On a more serious note, this 19-year-old’s life was anything but envious before and after he won this jackpot. Eventually losing all of the money was just one of the many turbulent ordeals this young man went through during his early lifetime.
A New Jersey woman was a lottery winner, not once but twice! That would indicate to most people that this lady must be one of the luckiest people on Earth.
Well . . .
One of her biggest Loves was the poker tables at the casinos in Atlantic City. Her lottery jackpot winnings that totaled $5.4 million had her in Atlantic City frequently. It’s estimated that she spent about $6 million just on poker.
She too ended up losing the entire jackpot, so how lucky was she really? $6 million just playing poker? I guess we’ll see how lucky she is if she wins big again.
A $315 million lottery jackpot winner was “making it rain” in ways that even famous rappers might envy. He had parked his car outside of a strip club he frequented often. Thieves broke into his car and stole a suitcase with his stash of cash in it.
When he reported the crime, he reported that the suitcase contained over $545,000 in cold hard cash. Now, as Baller as it might be, I am not here to say that he was spending half a million a night at the strip club.
But last I checked, strippers don’t accept PayPay. He was asked why he was carrying around $545,000 in cash in a suitcase in the first place? His reply was even more “baller.”
“Because I can.”
Greatest reply in all of human history. My hero.
